The Financial Advisors at UBS were using a disjointed process for creating investment proposals for their clients. Proposals looked different from team to team and weren’t always compliant.
The UX team worked with product owners to map out the process, prototype and test a solution, and collaborated with offshore developers to guide the build.
Impact
The new Investment Proposal Tool generated enthusiastic reviews and a $2M asset transfer in its first week. -
Any time an employee at UBS wants to use a software tool that doesn’t come standard with their profile, they must go submit a software request through a tool known to be clunky and unintuitive. The UX team was engaged to make improvements to the request process, which required researching the workflows prototyping improvements.
Impact
The Berlin-based vendor, Alfabet Software (who had never worked with a UX team) was impressed with our prototyped proposals and added them to their enhancements roadmap. This meant all clients who used the software (including Exxon and L’Oreal) would also see the improvements.Request demo.

If you are part of a global supply chain and you’re in charge of paying globally distributed vendors, you might be using a combination of Excel, Quicken, and internal tools built by your in-house IT team.
Wells Fargo’s Foreign Exchange product owners wanted to offer a web-based solution that would make it easier for clients to set up and manage recurring cross-border payments. I conducted interviews with FX and Treasury teams and built prototypes.

Financial Advisors at UBS who create a Financial Plan for a client can charge a fee for this service. But fees require agreements, approvals, and deadlines, and transparency around all of this was lacking.
The UX team was engaged to bring transparency to the fee tracking process. I interviewed Advisors, built prototypes, and ran usability tests.
ImpactTwo dashboards were created: one for the Advisor to see the status of their agreements, and one for Home Office administrators to monitor documentation and fee status across the entire Advisor population.
A new desktop-based, browser-based UI was built that intuitively guided users through the process of creating and setting fees for an engagement.

As president of an NYC non-profit networking organization (NYC UXPA), I was a de facto event producer. On the 3rd Tuesday of each month for 3 years, our org ran events which featured an industry expert, panel, or workshop followed by socializing.
I implemented a playbook/template for organizing all phases of these events, from vetting potential speakers to measuring satisfaction survey results year over year.
Impact
The implementation of event management procedures made it easier to manage volunteers, minimize unwelcome surprises, and keep track of logistics, and NYC UXPA events developed a reputation for excellence.
I work with Product and users to map current state workflows, capture pain points, and propose solutions. I also facilitate discussions between Product and Tech teams to negotiate compromises and deliver solutions.
